Why I love the internet, part n:

Someone posts a question on Ask Metafilter about a favourite album of mine. Among the commenters is Kim Cooper, the author of a book on this album, part of the 33 1/3 series. Delighted by surprise, I jump on the opportunity, and Kim answers my (thread-hijacking, I admit :)) follow-up question directly. Brilliant.

Um, just wanted to share that. Carry on.

Recording. (2)

When people say you have to suffer for your art, I'm not sure if this is what they have in mind.

In the absence of proper studio furnishings, we positioned the mixing desk on a foosball table. Just like the pros do.

Warning: cannibalism may impair your command of the English language.

Next to the baby mixer, our mascot: a piglet propelling his boat by blowing into the sails with a tuba. His friends comment, "Wonderful! If you keep blowing you'll reach America in no time!"

Barring sign language or Charades, the only way to communicate between the drum and control rooms is via microphones and headphones. Here I'm trying to signal to the drummer to finish toying with the camera and put his "cans" on.

So long, suckers.

Screw it, I'm joining this band: click to see image (NSFW, weird).
